Cars 2 BIRTHDAY Invitations

In honor the the new movie that is in theaters TODAY, I thought I would add my latest Cars 2 design to the blog. Although I won't see the movie until my husband and I take our little guy tomorrow, based on the previews and research I've done it appears to be a little darker. So, I went with an overall darker invitation. I kept the same logo style, but changed the checkerboard to more of a wave at the top and bottom.

There are a TON of characters in this new movie. I'm sure I'm missing some, but here is a chart (click on it to enlarge, and then you can even click again to zoom in more) of 30 that can be used on this invitation. If you don't specify names or numbers, I will assume that you are just looking for Lightning McQueen. (Notice there are a couple of duos at the bottom...specifically #29: Lightning McQueen & Mater.)I will add an image of the new thank you card and stickers later this afternoon (hopefully)

A Modern yet Natural WEDDING SUITE

Keeping the environment in mind, this wonderful bride and groom wanted to use as little paper as possible for their invitations. I flashed back to my own non-envelope DIY wedding invitations from almost 8 years ago and used it as a stepping stone to the finished product. I used A7 smoke gray petal fold cards as the base for the 4.5 x 6.5 invitation that was mounted in the center. The "petals" folded on top and we sealed the invitation with an oval kraft label printed with the return address. Natalie also decided it would be easier to also write the recipient's address on a kraft label that would adhere to the front of the petal fold [not pictured].

Most of the invitations request an online response at the couples wedding website. However, they wanted several to include an RSVP postcard for those guests that are not as computer savvy. I happen to love these little postcards and am very pleased with how they turned out. They are printed on 130 lb. Natural cover stock and are mailed with a standard 29¢ postcard stamp.

The thank you cards included in the image have "the Youngsters" (how cute!) printed in poppy on an environmentally friendly, 80 lb. kraft coverstock. They are fold-over cards with "jellybean" green A2 envelopes.

The bride chose not to include the tree image on the program fans. Instead, they were printed on Kraft cardstock. The front is printed in color (to show off the poppy) with the ceremony program. The black was printed in grayscale, but still coordinated perfectly with the poppy, gray & olive theme and included the wedding party and a favorite, appropriate passage selected by the bride and groom.

Thomas & Friends TRAIN Birthday INVITATION

When I was contacted about creating a custom "Thomas the Train" birthday invitation, I simply had to look to my own (almost) 3 year old for inspiration. He currently loves all things trains as well. He was even a bit obsessed as he watched me come up with this festive little design.

I wanted to keep it classy, yet use the cars from the popular television/movie series. I'm very happy with the finished product and I think it would work well for a more generic train design as well. And don't worry if your child has a longer name. I have a few variations of the design to accommodate everyone. :)

I also love the personalization of these little thank you cards. I can also created a fold-over version or even a fill-in thank you card. Just let me know what you want!

70th Birthday Party Invitation

This custom piece turned out very nicely! My client wanted to use blue and brown and wanted to include this childhood picture. I tried to make it classic, somewhat masculine and appropriate for someone achieving the 70 year milestone of life.

The choice to print it on natural paper with coordinating, natural envelopes creates an even more timeless effect.

Toy Story Birthday featuring Woody & Buzz!

I've come up with several Toy Story designs recently, and this is one of my absolute favorites! I love the bandana pattern and the space pattern behind the characters! Also, did you notice the subtle #5 that is printed on Woody's hat? Just let me know the age of your little one and that "5" can change to whatever number you need.

This baby announcement design coordinates with the shower invitations I designed a few months ago. It is a very sweet design and I am so glad his mom took me up on my offer for a free design! All brides or moms get a free design if they use the same theme from their shower invitations!

TRAVIS — Modern Graduation

Wow, I have a lot I need to add....I've been very busy and I'm afraid blog postings have not had the highest priority.

I was in Staples the other day and a heard a very nice lady inquiring about graduation open house invitations for her son. Staples does not have an in-house design team, but they will send it out to their "team" that will toss whatever picture you have and the information you want to include into a template. I have seen some of these. (if I don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all...)

So, I discretely told her that I was a designer and I could whip up something for her pretty quick. I don't know her and she has never seen my work, but for whatever reason, she trusted me and handed me her flash drive and jotted down some information on the back of a Staples scrap sheet of paper.

Well, this is the finished product (address changed). It is a double sided postcard. Their return addrss is printed on the back side as well as some faint lines for easy addressing. The 130# coverstock is super thick with a matte finish. They will mail beautifully. I'm very pleased with how it turned out and according to his mom, Travis really likes it too. Doesn't he look like a heart-breaker!!
Anyway, it is amazing how God will bring people into your path.

A Vineyard-Winery Wedding

The green is not as yellow-y in real life as it is appearing on my screen....the bottom right image of the leaf is the most accurate.

After designing some bachelorette party invitations for Kelley, she sought me out to design her actual wedding invitation suite. This was such a fun project.

The wedding is being held at a vineyard & winery. Of course the first image that came to mind was grapes. However, that is very cliché and did not fit with the light sage, & champagne (with cranberry accents) color scheme. I found a simple grape vine image that I was able to modify and apply it to pieces throughout the wedding suite.

The invitation is 4.5 x 6.5 flat card, mounted to a "tropical green" pocket card. This provides a 1/4" backing for the invitation, and a pocket to nest the double sided timeline "Wedding Day" card and the double sided response postcard. I used 100# Opaque Natural paper for all cards. The pocket card itself is 80# coverstock. The A7 envelopes are 70# text and include the return address on the flap. I also formatted and printed all of their recipient's addresses on the front of the envelopes to save the bride and groom precious time and make the suites even a little bit more special.

I am very pleased with the programs (pictured below). Kelley wanted to include little bios of all of the wedding party within the program. Obviously that takes up quite a bit of space, but I didn't want to do a program "book". After brainstorming for a bit, I came up with this super cool, accordion fold program with a banded cover. It is a pocket-sized 4.25 x 5.5 and opens to reveal 4 panels of information on the front (2 for the ceremony and 2 for the wedding bios). The back also allows for 2 panels of printing so it includes flower dedication and a thank you page to all that made the day possible. So, tons of information in a cute little format. :) The program is all held together with a 2.125" band that includes the couple's wedding logo as well as the date and location of the event.Although a paper issue (combined with a holiday weekend) made assembling these guys a little stressful (requiring overnight shipping), I hope the bride and groom are thrilled with how they turned out!

Funky, Fresh, 1st BIRTHDAY!

I'm really pleased with how these little invitations turned out! Avonlea's mom sent me a picture of the birthday girl's outfit (bloomers instead of leggings) and gave me creative freedom from there. I provided quite a few designs, but the finished product is a fun balance of cutesy and festive, including an adorable picture of the birthday girl. Although the colors and prints are also appropriate for older girls, the playful font and poem make it absolutely perfect for a 1st birthday celebration!

4.25 x 5.5 birth announcements with a satin finish. The cards are printed on both sides, the back featuring only the blue gingham pattern from the front.

SAM — Traditional GRADUATION Announcement

This style of graduation announcement is a great way to highlight various aspects of a senior's personality. It is a 5 x 7 single sided card with a high gloss finish to make the colors really stand out.

The style of script can also be changed to fit the personality or overall feel of the card. There is also plenty of room to include additional information about the graduate.

BACHELORETTE Beach Weekend (Silhouette)

It is almost wedding season, so I've had several request for the beach bachelorette party invitations that I designed last year. This single sided design is a bit more economical and uses the same silhouette concept and large block of lettering as the previous, double sided version. There are many many ways to customize! "MAYA" — Lavender Baby Girl Birth Announcement

Isn't she a doll?! I only wish you could see her full head of dark brown hair! I just ordered all of these announcements yesterday and I can't wait for them to come in.

I actually used a little Photoshop magic to turn what was a pink hat, purple. :) Her room is decorated in a subtle lavender and gray and I spoke with her mom and dad about the announcements even before the photo shoot took place. Kaity did a great job with the pictures and mom and dad purchased the rights to these two shots, allowing me to use them on this card.

The back of the card is a full 5 x 7, frame-ready, photo for all of those receiving the news of this beautiful little bundle.

Bird on Branch BABY SHOWER Invitation

Something about spring time means lots of babies are on the way, thus lots of baby showers!

I'm really pleased with these baby blue and royal invitations. There are subtle, dashed diamonds in the background and a silhouetted bird as a symbol of new life. The whimsical script is the perfect choice to highlight the mother's name and registry information.
